Accelerated GI Bill Payments-- GI Bill Tip #31It's true; some of those eligible for the Montgomery GI Bill are also eligible for an accelerated payment. If you qualify, you'll get your payment in a single lump sum instead of the monthly amount. Unfortunately, not everyone can take advantage of this program; it's only intended for those enrolled in high tech college programs. You must inform the VA you intend to seek post-graduation employment in a VA-defined "high-tech industry". Only those who qualify for the MGIB "Chapter 30" active duty GI Bill are eligible for accelerated payments under current guidelines.

Federal financial aid is available, but if you participated in the Montgomery GI Bill, you have a much better option. If you’re active duty, a recent change to federal law allows you to use military Tuition Assistance and supplement it with your GI Bill educational benefit.
