Delayed Or Missing GI Bill Payments-- GI Bill Tip #28The VA recommends using direct deposit for GI Bill benefit payments, as it is the most efficient and direct way to get the money you are entitled to. For those who are still having checks mailed to them, you should contact the VA three weeks after the time you should have received payment. The number to call is: 1-888-GIBILL-1 (1-888-442-4551)You'll need to speak to an Education Case Manager to insure payment was indeed made, and determine whether a replacement payment should be authorized. The VA cannot cut a replacement check until the three weeks have elapsed. Unfortunately, a replacement payment can take up to six weeks, depending on circumstances, VA workloads and other factors.
