How Long is a Month of GI Bill Benefits?

-- GI Bill Tip #19

The Montgomery GI Bill offers 36 months of benefits. But how are those 36 months calculated? Full-time students are charged for a full month of benefits for each month they attend school. But half-time students are only charged for two weeks' worth of MGIB benefits. This means that a half-time student is only charged two months of benefits for the entire four month semester.

This may continue in any combination of full or part time attendance until all 36 months of GI Bill education benefits are used up. In short, A "month" of benefits equals the full entitlement for full-time enrollment, just over one thousand dollars at 2006 rates.
